Cycling in Uwharrie
Mountain Biking
Uwharrie is a national destination for off-road biking. The trails through out Uwharrie vary from aggressive single track runs, long downhill slopes, to relaxed paths around the lakes. Miles of trails and access routes make a thrilling ride for the seasoned cyclist and novice alike. To find more about the Uwharrie riding community or more details on what we have to offer, log on to Middle Ring Cycles web forum.
There are several riding organizations in Uwharrie, like Uwharrie Mountain Bike Association and the Uwharrie Wheelmen. These groups have a long history in Uwharrie. Many of the current members were the original trailblazers for our mountain bike trail system in the Woodrun area. A new chapter of SORBA has been adopted (SORBA Uwharrie). A subsidiary of IMBA, the group is underway and in development of the Uwharrie Ride Center.
For a detailed trail guide, pick up Don Childrey's book, "Uwharrie Trail Guide” at the Outpost. For more current updates on the trail system, contact us at the Outpost and Middle Ring Cycles.
